Title: Good morning, good morning...
Post by: N-drju on March 05, 2014, 03:50:46 AM
Hi all,

Another render of mine for your watchful eyes to evaluate. ;) The idea was to make fields intersected with irrigation channels covered by soft, morning fog. Take a look and read on...

For this, I used some free samples from XFrog, bushes + grasses by Mr.Lamppost and also Lombardy Poplar by Ashundar artists and cottage model by TerrAde I believe... I am preparing another version of this render because I believe there are some issues to address here. Still this image somewhat responds to my expectations and "mental picture" of how it should look like so this may well be cautiously called a "final render." :) Some additional private stuff - cheers to Dune and dandelO for giving me directions on GI cache file! (will appear in the second version)

Nice. I like the fog effect on the ground :)

A little update...

I improved cirrus clouds so they no longer look so godawful, and also the placement of grasses growing next to the irrigation channel so it doesn't have that "plantation-like" layout. This image is also in greater resolution and with greater AA and GI values. Looks nice. :D What I still can't figure out however is that all objects are awfully dark! How do I fix it? :-\

Hey, I like these changes... getting better and better :)

I had the same problem once with a tree and the translucency on 0.6 handled pretty much the darkness in my case. Not sure if it will handle yours but u can try....

In my case the leaf shader translucency was on 0 and had to raise around 0.5 or .6

Hm, never thought of that one. I guess I'll try that this weekend.

By all logic I believe that trees will work with this trick. I experimented with translucency on spheres when I was trying to do lanterns. Still I'm not really sure how the cottage in the middle of the picture will react. I don't want a house made of glass! ;D

I think I'll also try adding additional sunlight located directly beyond the camera to compensate for that darkness. Well, two more things to experiment with.

That's the laaaast one of them. What changed here is much brighter surroundings, made with a very useful GI cache file functionality. The trees that were unnaturally dark are brighter too thanks to Archonforest's translucency solution. Also added two boulders on the right. ;)

Your welcome. Glad I could help someone here to create what they want :D In other hands the tip I told you was from Kaedorg who helped me out on the same problem some time ago...
