Title: Ablikan III - The Cambrian sea
Post by: fleetwood on March 05, 2014, 11:13:11 AM
As Hannes and Gregtee suggested, here are conglomerate rocks in a marine situation. This is how I imagine them in the Cambrian period on Ablikan III . I'll be posting the rock setup in file sharing.

Marine life is Xfrog or made in C4D. The little single coral in front right is a displaced sphere.

That's very awesome!  Best underwater terrain I've seen so far.  Good job.

Really, really well done. The light and the 'murkiness' work to create a great underwater image with your conglomerate rocks. Very nice!

Terrific scene!

Wow great!! You could try to add some chromatic aberration to simulate the refraction of light inside the water, and it would be perfect.

And the Titanic.

Hannes -I experimented with adding various amounts of chromatic aberration at your suggestion, but I find that though it may be a very common sight in underwater photos I dislike the "look" of it. It is one of those lens characteristics that sort of jangles my eye and makes me want to look away.

Badger - I chose the description Cambrian Sea on purpose. I don't have any good fish models and by saying it was a Cambrian sea I figured I could get away with no fish. As I understand it fish were just coming into existence and only very primitive types in the early Cambrian age, but I should have put in some jointed leg Trilobite type critters.

Love your scene........one question. How do you add chromatic aberration to a pic? It's something I never had any experience with. ???

Thanks,
I used post processing so it depends on your favorite image editing software. I happened to do it in Picture Window Pro which has a dedicated chromatic aberration tool that lets you move the red or blue channel or both by tiny increments.

I use Photoshop.........the only thing I have seen removes it. Will have to do some more investigation. Thanks.

Adding a little diffusion effect might not be a bad idea but it looks pretty great where it is.

Looks great, the feeling of depth shown on the render shown is  fantastic.
