Title: painted shader on Imported object

Is it possible to paint a painted shader on an imported object?

It is possible. Only the lines you paint are seen on the planet's surface while you paint, but they translate well to objects like this. Don't know how that would be on vertical areas, perhaps paint on a plane? Never did that.

Hi Ulco,

Yes, what I meant is you can't paint directly onto an imported object. As you've shown you can do some stuff but it's with varying degrees of awkwardness.

Thanks,  I should have looked at the docs first.
I was thinking maybe it had changed with the new version.
