Title: beach test
Post by: oldm4n on May 20, 2014, 10:17:55 AM
hi guys,

just a test about beach; Dune helped me a lot, thanks sir, much appreciated.
I learned a lot about masking and there are tons of masks in this image.

Very nice.

I would suggest to soften a bit the wet sand or make a soft transition.
Also you can add some dust on the sand (at the wet sand line for example).
You can play with some rocks, dead wood, plants.

Well done, it's a very good start! I would soften the wet edge on the beach though, make it a few meters where the wetness disappears into dry sand. And keep the 'dunes' off that wet area. You could locate some small (a few centimeters to 1o0cm wide) stretched perlin there, maybe warped, like this (though these are bit more sophisticated ripples).

Wait. Is that a render?

Nope. But it can be done in TG, no doubt.

Quite cool, the wave lines are a bit too rigid maybe. The shells are a nice idea. And your plants are floating :)

Thanks guys for your kind words, glad you like it.

Otakar: you have the eagle eye, plants are floating, I totally missed that !  For waves, I have to work on this kind of stuff.
