i'm assuming you can't save rendered images in the free version?  ???

You can definitely save rendered images with the unregistered versions of both Terragen 0.9 and Terragen 2. In Terragen 0.9 after you have finished rendering you should have a Save button in the upper-left of the render window. Pressing this should bring up a dialog to specify a file name and location. You can save in the standard BMP format on Windows or in multiple formats including JPG and TIFF on a Mac. You can see an example of what this should look like here: http://www.planetside.co.uk/terragen/guide/dlg_image.html

Heya thanks for the reply, but the button can't be pressed on my end.

Rebooted, restarted the program, waited for an hour, but still can't save it :(

It looks like the render isn't done yet, as the "Abort render" button is still available.  I would recommend waiting until you get a "Render completed" message with a total time.

Render time will depend on many factors and can't easily be predicted. On a reasonably fast modern computer most renders should take less than an hour, however if you have increased all detail levels to maximum and/or are using a lot of water you may experience greater render times.

I got it working now lol It didn't do anything earlier (didn't start rendering or anything), uninstalled and reinstalled it, and now it seems to work fine!

Thanks very much! ;D I love the program
