Hi!
I was wondering if there is an interest in making the best ice that can be achieved with Terragen 3.
So I have added a .tgd file which shows the ice that I ended up with for now, but I could imagine ice that has cracks or illumination and so on...
What does your ice look like?
Looks good!
Cool ice man...but I think I'll wait for a really hot day before I start playing with ice. After the winter we had up here in the mostly frozen north even remembering ice gives me a chill, heh heh heh

There are others too probably of course.
This is the best I got.

I have some new ideas, but haven't had the time to get to work on them.
The difficulty with ice is that you easily get grainy shadows/reflections when using the internal color (probably due to the render subdivision settings.... I think). Try adding a pole sticking out of the ice and see what happens. It may be better to use a merge shader to merge subtle ice colors with the water shader.
This is an attempt at ice I made back in 2011: http://www.planetside.co.uk/forums/index.php/topic,13667.msg134481.html#msg134481
Thanks for the replies and the links!
It think it is a bit tricky with the ice.
Below is the latest attempt to freeze my Alien.
And one from me.
