Title: Making Logo's
Post by: Mohawk20 on June 29, 2014, 10:29:07 AM
The company I work for separates waste for recycling. So I decided the logo should have a nature theme.
So the original logo is this:

And what I made first is this:

The response I got was "Nice, but can you make it more realistic?"

So I made it into this:

A little too much drop shadow perhaps?

Yes, it is nice, but will it be strong enough if printed small? It looks a bit blurry as a thumbnail, you only see it well if displayed huge on a wall.

Well, it's not supposed to be printed small... I was thinking more along the lines of the side of our trucks or other vehicles we use inside, or on the website or in the reception of the home office. Not small at all  ;)

There isn't one way to do Logo's of course but mostly go simple enough until you can not go further.

^^ Agreed. You should see NIKE's rule book on its logos, both the word "NIKE" and the "swoosh" symbol. Its like 300 pages long or something.

The logo here would be good for a promotion project, or a big wall sized billboard or a web banner. But it will cause problems down the road for other designers due to how many aspects of it can get messed up for printing and just branding in general.

Ahh, I see you said that its not for all purpose use. Ha! Well I like it then.

Also, it would be great for motion graphics and animation.
