I hear from some sources that it will be about 20 bucks. And, it will give us the kind of screen we've been used to.
There are some videos floating around with the "restored" start menu.
Personally, I'm not particularly bothered by Windows 8 ... but 9 definitely looks like an improvement. The Start Menu is back, but with integrated live tiles that are user manageable. They've also added Modern style apps running windowed on the desktop, rather than forcing full screen.
Additionally, they are finally adding multiple desktop support.
