Title: paint on card?
Post by: Dune on September 24, 2014, 01:16:11 PM
I thought we were able to use the painted shader on cards, so add a (big) card and paint on that. I couldn't get it to work, is that my mistake or has it changed?

The Painted Shader paints on micropolygons in the preview, but the Card object isn't rasterized to micropolys so you can't paint directly onto it. I think you could paint on it from a top-down view, painting onto the terrain, and then projecting against the card, but direct painting onto it floating in 3D space isn't going to work.

Thanks. So you should be able to paint on a vertical plane object? Or a cube? I'll try that. There was an experiment lately where I wanted to paint the area for steamtrain smoke.
