Title: Decay distance problem with Planet or Sphere object
Post by: russe166 on November 22, 2014, 07:42:01 AM
Hi!

I can't get the 'Decay distance' from the water shader to work right on a sphere or planet object. It works well on the lake object but I need an ocean that gets around the planet.

Who can help me?

I'm thinking you need to increase the size of the water to cover the planet?...just guessing here...seems to work in a test I've done.

Yes, I have to cover the whole planet and I can't get the lake object to stick at the downside of the planet. I would like to keep the right Decay distance, but when I use a sphere or a planet the Decay distance is cut at a level that depends on the 'Ray detail multiplier' in the render node.

Well, it's logical that it won't work on a planet as you can't turn off shadows on a planet. On a sphere you can and should. Did you turn it off?
