Hello everybody,
lately I was experimenting with strata and outcrops. My latest works are qeite impressive, but after rendering, I noticed several things that shouldn´t be.

First, I had a little problem with the surface I don´t know how to handle. Second, on the top, there ist a hole I noticed, which may be the result of the twist and shear-shader. And third, the strange light on the stone wall. I guess this comes from the GI surface details I activated.
Maybe someone can tell me what this is and how I can correct them.
Thanks,
Predice
1) Dont know what it is,probably a reflection or problem with the lightning,my advice is to brush it away with postwork in photoshop or something :)
2) Try decreasing the valus of the twist and shear shader? maybe that'll solve it
3)If you want u can put GI at 0|0 and use this as lighting http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=580.0
Thanks for the fast answer, I will try this light setup.

There are still inconstencies with GI so using a fill light setup as an alternative is a good thing to try when you run into lighting problems. Increasing GI detail may help too, but will increase render time of course. Future improvements to the GI system should minimize these problems.
It seems like your scene has some fairly extreme displacements in it and this can cause problems such as the holes you noticed. Increasing detail can help in some cases, though again at the cost of increased render time. The handling of this level of displacement will also be improved but ultimately if you are giving severe input to the renderer then it will always be hard to deal with.
