Title: Some help with these plants?
Post by: TheBadger on November 26, 2014, 04:38:52 PM
Hi, got 2 things I want to ask about here.

1) The easiest thing would just be to buy the plants if they are available and priced nice.
Have any of you seen something very close to this for sale?

((edit) Notice that the grass here is very long and thin, not really like the grass we can get from silva or NWDA.)

2) I already have some stuff similar to whats in the following link, but I want to ask about the best way to get it to lay down like in this image:

I want to know if you guys think it best to edit the plant object in a modeler, or if I should just try to warp it in tg somehow?

If I edit it in a modeler, than do you think I will have to also remap it? If all I do is bend it? (I have never done a small edit to someone elses object, usually I change things so much I have to remap as if I stared from 0)

If I do it in TG, whats the best way?

And in any case, if I have a population, how do I get the plants to lay down all, or mostly all, in the same direction? I am not looking for a wind blown look really, more of a fall, late winter laying down of tall grasses. But wind blown is probably the same look?

Thank you.

IF the modeler you're using is xFrog, then I'd use xFrog.  There is a 'directional' Parameter in TG3 objects that allows you to point a group of objects in the same direction, or limit the direction the lean/turn in.

Use a modeler, the you have best control over the angles. Or if you rotate the object to its side, and keep the rotation of the instances withing say 0-90ยบ you get them to lie down.

They look almost like green "fur" as in packages like Maya and Lightwave that needs to be "combed".

Get you a bottle of good bourbon, lemons, and honey. Boil some water, add the former and go to bed under lots of blankets. You'll get rid of it pretty quick.  ;D
