It would soon be light.
Mor's memory was fading, his mind a disturbing mess of thoughts. He vaguely remembered the day he couldn't council any longer and how cold he was when saying the words. The clan accepted in silence, and it had frightened him. That was before the winter. Early spring, when he couldn't chew his food anymore, he knew it was time. He chose his youngest son for the last rites and they went.
His fear was over now; it would soon be light.
Burial hut made from vdisp TIF (pulled in mudbox) on a small plane, sunk in the ground a tiny bit. Added some fake stones and grasses.
Great and emotional.
But perhaps it looks more authentic with dry grass?
Thanks and you're right. As always this was just a test whether I could make a mud hut from a plane in TG, but I got carried away. I might pick this up again and add some more grasses and stuff.

I must have a go at VDisp... it is possible to create these in CS3?
Ulco, don't be shy at getting carried away... I like it!
Skin tones maybe a bit off?
too clean/uniform...
a great beginning and end of a story...
:)
Cheers

Not really, you can paint something on the three RGB layers in a 16bit file, then perhaps set it to 32bit and save as tiff, but you won't have much control. Better to use mudbox or any other app where you can mold something from a plane and make a vector displacement map by setting the displacement off against a second plane.
Wonderful image! The burial hut looks great. Agree about the grass and the skin tones (maybe some sort of pale body paint?).
I like the composition Ulco.
A sad repose; but, an excellent composition telling the story.
