A quick test drive of some stones from Luc Bianco's website: http://www.planetside.co.uk/forums/index.php/topic,19191.0.html
Also, some grasses I've put together in Speedtree. Not much of a scene, but exciting to be able to use some work created by Maestro Bianco!
Like the grass a bunch.............I think Speedtree might be in my future. ;D
It looks nice but i can hardly resist to think about eyes closed under those grasses :D

LOL........... ;D
nice...have them on my wish list(the rocks)but speedtree is but a dream.....
Great grass, Doug. Did you use the stalks, and probably plenty of them? Or are they meshes with a mask? Heavy? I did use both in some of my grasses to keep it light.
Hi
maybe a bit too much closeup for these stones.. decent distance is more like on : http://www.lucbianco.fr/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/dry-stones-1-600x599.jpg (http://www.lucbianco.fr/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/dry-stones-1-600x599.jpg)
Here you should add few extra layers in displacement stack of each stone..

Sorry Luc, my first go at it. Thanks for the additional info, they are wonderful objects! Here's another example of the grass without the stones. Ulco, the grass is actually a variant on Pampas grass without the distinctive flower. No masks, just brute force repetition of blade mesh.
Doug, you've done a great job on these grasses!
So it is a mesh, not a 3D 'stalk'. So how do you make it pointed? Home-made mesh? That should work. The used internal mesh is evenly wide to the top, so I had to use a pointed mask.
Great grass, great rocks, what's not to like?
looks great to me too.
