Now that I've got my faster machine (2.2Ghz MacBook Pro -> wOOt ;)) I can really start to play with cloud renders. I would appreciate your comments and criticisms on this.

This is the real deal. Good job. It is like being in an airplane.
Great stuff. TGC?
Thanks for the comments, guys. No .tgc for now, because the clouds are pretty simple. Just a few things I've found about making these kinds of clouds:
Make them really thick (2500m or thicker)
Have a big scale range on the noise (lots of octaves)
Have a fair amount of roughness (~2) to get that smaller detail
They don't need to be too dense, but pumping up the edge sharpness helps enhance the detail as well.
Hope that helps :).
Excellent work!
A comment: It's just curiosity and maybe I'm wrong, but the high res image shows something that seems to me a little, strange feature
Can I repost the image here evidencing these little parts?
Oh yes, please do. I've got some other projects in the pipeline right now, but when those are done, I plan on revisiting this, so any comments and criticisms are appreciated :).
Here it is, I've marked in red what appears to me as some sort of "transparent stripe" over the cloud formations. What do you think?

You can see it better in the full-res link

Lucio,
They look like shadows from some of the small detached clouds. I'm not sure why they are so sharp though.
Could be, although they do look uncommonly sharp. Thanks for pointing that out.
also, some slight blockiness in the clouds, but turning off the render cache would make the render time take waaaaay longer. Great job though
I don't see anything that looks like an acceleration cache issue - some of the bumps on the clouds could give a block impression, but usually acceleration cache would be much more noticeable than that.
Well, I think it's Fantastic! Kudos!
Just a little thing I wanted to point out. Anyway, the results are great. Keep it up!
The good thing is that some of this could just be the interim software and, once it's updated, things like this will be resolved.
Love what you've shared o_b.
