If someone like Autodesk buys them it wouldn't be good news probably for Modo users.

Any news how the modo community is taking it? I decided to wait to buy modo for another version update in hopes that the non modeling stuff is improved (I would have bought it already if updates were cheaper or free).

I really hope they do not sell to autodesk. That would be a big step back!! Sounds like that it was always the plan to sell by the investment group. Nothing new there, that is a normal model. They poor money in, get it where they are happy then they sell.
I just hope they sell to a company that loves CG as much as they love money.

Did not know that the foundry is not just a software company, but they also act as a studio. My fantasy right now (for the sake of conversation) is that Apple will by the software (and even the studio portion)! Then poor more money into it. They do really well with taking soft and simplifying it.

I still maintain that as soon as all the tech becomes easier for people to use, and as soon as hollywood and cable TV have competition (like youtube and netflix are doing) than content will really change for the better.

Its a dream. Everyone needs a dream.

Apple? God no. After what they did to Final Cut, not to mention making Filemaker and many others Mac-only. Bad call, especially with their continued war on creatives on their platform. The last Mac Pro was throwing a bone, sure, but it's actually a step backward for many real professional users. So... yeah, eff that. ;)

16 pages long as i write this.
Brad Peebler wrote in page 5 if you are curious Michael.
No news other then anxiety, frustration, hope and optimism. The last two are mostly in Brad Peebler's post ;)

I would be sorry to see the software go away like Softimage. I was looking for Softimage for the future and Modo too :(

found this in the thread KAdri posted. I think its helpful to understand this industry. Everything software is clear to me now.

I just looked at the OS poll you did in April 2010. About 13% reported running on Mac while about 85% were on some version of Windows. If Modo were acquired by either Autodesk or Apple I am afraid it would be the end of the line for me.
