Title: Octive Perlin Warp - Avoiding Straight Lines of Hate
Post by: WAS on December 21, 2014, 04:24:20 PM
I really do love the effect Octive Perlin Warp does, however, for some reason, it always overlays strange straight lines on anything I use it on despite the settings I try to give it. Is there a way to avoid this?

I'm trying to create the drift detail of sand to mix in with the sand dunes and really having issues getting a pleasing look, and when I get close, I get weird errors like this I need to overcome. Lol

Without Octive Perlin Warp, I get less satisfying results, but no lines. (May look more satisfying but when the scale is reduced and blended into the dunes it would be hardly noticeable)

I would guess it's related to the issue in this lengthy discussion thread:

Basically, being "too close" to the terrain in combination with some other settings.

If you're making dunes, I would assume the scales are much larger, so it's odd you're seeing this. Maybe some of the info in that thread will help you anyway though.
