Title: Spiky
Post by: Kadri on January 10, 2015, 12:22:29 AM

I was bored at waiting for the animation renders and wanted to make a basic and fast scene.
A flat and science fiction kinda image.
But the end result was the opposite as you see below.
I think i haven't tried this kind of image in Terragen until now.

Michael that was what i thought too and if i played with this a little more i would certainly put a spaceship or ridiculous big planets-moon etc. in there ;)
I might still use this in the animation maybe...not sure.
Curious how a straight camera fly over would feel.

I want too actually. But i have crammed so many scenes into the animation there isn't much place left to put it.
I am sure guys like us here around would like to watch those parts for a very long time but not sure if others will be bored to death or not :)

I am rendering a basic straight camera move test with this image just now.
400 x 160 resolution. Will take 6 hours or more (slow because 2 renders at the same time).
I will put it here bad or good i don't know.

That was a kinda test to see if you can speak it or use Google translate :)

"Do you know Turkish or do you use a little help of Google translate too?" Should be the real translated form.

Very nice ridges Kadri. Reminds me of the only ones I saw in southeastern Utah ('Comb Ridge').

Yes, on one side is a steep climb; the other is a shear drop off.

QuoteSince I am Hungarian we had a long relationship with Turkish people at the past :)
Now all of this has peeked my curiosity, and I have been googling Hungarian empire princes cuz of Kadri... Was Hungary part of the ottoman empire? Or was Turkey part of a Hungarian empire? I did not think that Hungary was conquered by a far away power until the Communists. (Turkey is kinda far from Hungary before planes and such made the world smaller)

I think that except for WW2 and then the fall of Communism, I don't know anything about the map from the Balkans to Turkey *After the great Skisim*.
;D If we are going to have a global community, than I am going to take full advantage!

Hungary fell into Turkish hands in 1541 when the Castle of Buda was taken. So Turkish came and stayed for about 150 years. They had a huge huge army and kicked butt in Europe. Their leader Great Sulejman sultan wanted to take over Europe and perhaps more...

Have you looked at maps too Michael? It is the easiest way to see it.

Here is the animation test file.

Some parts are...ahem...spiky so not sure if i can use this scene.
Maybe a basic different angle of the camera might suffice. Anyway.

Looks cool, Kadri! It reminds me of Lord of the Rings a lot.
I'd love to see this with a prerendered GI cache to get rid of the flicker.

It reminded me too and thus i used the music from the Beacon scene from the Two Towers just for fun :)
I might use this for another project in the future maybe

Tried to look at your animation, but for me it was just black.
A missing codec on my side? Don't know.
Title: Re: Spiky
Post by: Kadri on January 14, 2015, 01:45:42 PM

It is Xvid. I don't know what you use to play, have you tried it with another player? VLC,Media player classic for example?
I use VLC but sometimes Media Player can play what VLC can't. Those together served me very nice until today.
If you still can't play it i can use another codec and upload it ones more.
Title: Re: Spiky
Post by: j meyer on January 14, 2015, 01:58:05 PM
Just tried it again with the media player,no success.
Quicktime says it needs something additional and can play that kind
of media.
Media player and Media center load it without complaints or messages,
but play it black.Didn't encounter that before, usually I get messages
when they can't handle something.
But don't do extra work, please, since the others could see it.
I take it for granted that it's as nice as your other vids, which I could see.

I had those problems 1-2 times too before. Not sure why.
The animation is nothing major but still here is the H264 version.
2 minutes of hard work ;)
