I wouldn't know which name is the best to describe this. Anyway; commission to visualize a 'raised stream' for use in watermills. Lots of work and issues to solve still.
I would have gone with "meadow". It Looks good.
Nice image Ulco.
Another superb aerial view! Lovely, lovely work.
Once a gain a typical "Ulco"! ;)
Looks great!
I think he can he can do these even at sleep :)
Updated WIP (reduced and auto curved in Irfanview, so it's not very perfect). The trick with this one is the careful drawing of maps (about 9), and manipulating the stream shores on the height map. I have warned them not to want the streams at a different location or I will be very pissed off ;)
Are those all populations down in the meadow? They look great, tremendous detail. Either an improvement on your earlier procedural methods, or a good leap to using real objects in an appropriate situation, as it works very well here. The detail added is subtle, but it really helps "sell" realism.

Excellent - are those the shadows of clouds or the effect of autocurves, anyway great work.
@Oshyan: I've put an overall grass pop in it, which indeed adds to realism, especially when you see this at final resolution!
@Mick: They're cloud shadows.
Agree with Oshyan re: increase in the realism effect and re:the streams; they have been warned.
and thanks for the tip in the other thread....
I would have loved do the same thing.
Some details (concept still) at final resolution, but no SoSh yet.
When the book and the posters are released hopefully there will be more
people using TG for illustrative puposes inspired by your illustrations. 8)
Awesome worlds I love these... As always!
