Title: Open Topography data
Post by: bigben on January 22, 2015, 08:44:17 PM
Flying visit to the forum ;)
This looks like there may be some useful data here. http://www.opentopography.org/ (http://www.opentopography.org/)

e.g. Sonoma County http://www.opentopography.org/index.php/news/detail/sonoma_county_topography_and_vegetation_data_now_available (http://www.opentopography.org/index.php/news/detail/sonoma_county_topography_and_vegetation_data_now_available)
Classified LIDAR data (as in categorised, not top secret) with geotiff as a download option

Sonoma County, that's where I'm from! Cooool. In fact, one of my first early alpha test scenes in Terragen 2 (before I worked for Planetside!) was using some Sonoma County data.

Let's see, I never throw anything away, so... Ah, here we are. The Sonoma Valley rendered in Terragen "D" in September, 2004. :D

I think it still looks very nice. Do you render for yourself at all these days Oshyan?

No personal projects really, sad to say. Mostly testing, support, and marketing-related stuff.
