Title: Frosty hills
Post by: Cocateho on February 23, 2015, 09:58:08 AM
Inspired by the cold, icy, snowy weather of recent here in the North Carolina Piedmont. Originally was going to be a normal 16:9 image but when I cropped for the low clouds I really liked the panoramic look so I stuck with that. Hope you all enjoy!

looks like the black mountains, here in wales

personally I think the trees need to be scaled down, perhaps 3 times

I like the snow. It looks really good. It makes the hills look inviting for some cross country skiing.

Looking good. Maybe add a mix of dead trees in a few places.

Good image and very much like the actual hills.
You must have had more snow than we did in Charlotte.
We got about 1/2 inch.
But, we will rebuild!!!
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

@ Henry Blewer the snow shader is actually a file from dandelO, adapted a bite and with a second shader over it which to me seems to be a good general set up for many things.

@ masonspappy Actually I'm in the Charlotte area, down near Monroe. It was mostly ice this way I think we saw all of about 5 flakes to which some neighborhood kid screamed his head off in excitement  ;D I wish it had actually looked like this, that's why it was just "inspired" ... here's to hoping we get a little bit of the real stuff this week though, the weather man is calling for more.

Terrain, surfacing, atmosphere - all great. The trees need work, both in distribution and variety.

Agree with you, nice image. But trees need more variety and so.. it will be perfect! :)
