Thank you - British mountains often have one of this concrete pillars on the top - called trig points, used for mapping in the days before satallites.

always thought they were used to mark mountains as the highest point in the area

No, The angles, Both vertical and horizontal between trig points,  were used to calculate the position of high points then everything else was laboriously measured.

100% on this! Every feature is perfect, the addition of the trig tower is a capper with the birds flocking around it. A quite subtle but effective focus.

I like the flow of the elements in this scene; the way the upper terrain turns slightly to the left towards the sun. Then the distant cloud mass helps the balance by increasing in size starting near the sun on the left and increases in height as it goes to the right. Everything fits very nicely ...good work Mick.
