Some premature tests for a Dorian project.
Great start, I'm a fan of number three.
I vote for No.3 too :)
But the first one is as impressive!
The rocks in #3 are looking spectacular!

Nice to see a new desert scene. image 3 is indeed looking impressive already... Comp will need some work later, but no doubt you have that in mind.
I have been in places like that. Your render looks very real. Number 3 rocks!
Yes, number three is super. Reminds me of Egypt.
That's what it's all about ;)
Wow, you are all over the place. Amazing. God, I wish I could do this as my daily job. I would actually finish more than one project a season :)
Variety is more interesting, I like number 3 too, great start. We will be re-creating the Sinai peninsula and certain areas of it will need to be accurate - the rest, not so much. We have a couple of possible sources for accurate data, but if anyone has any suggestions, let us know. Thanks.
Yes the 3rd one is stunning. Sky seems a little red though. What data sources have you looked at already?
I'll keep that sky in mind. I don't know what the procedure will be yet, Dorian will tell me, but I guess we need some DEM or heightmap for the Sinai peninsula. I kinda thought; maybe you have a crop area that we can use, but we need to be sure before we start asking stuff. Perhaps a simple heightmap that we can position at the northpole will be easiest.
Agree on 3...your rocks rock my world....and that's the best desert mat I've seen yet.
You could probably start with some SRTM tiles, although they're only 90m resolution. Here's a relatively painless interface: http://dwtkns.com/srtm/ (http://dwtkns.com/srtm/) Not sure of any higher res data sources
Thanks Ben, that might be good enough, and very downloadable.
