Title: Rock and Lichen
Post by: kaedorg on March 31, 2015, 04:36:22 AM
Hi guys

I've been far from this forum for the last 6 months because of health problems of my son.
Now he is fine and I can have time for me and back on Terragen

Here is a study on Rock and Lichen as I should use that for beach views from Brittany.
Put some orange and yellow lichens.
And thinking about greenseaweed.

This view is just here for the study of the rock

Hey David, good to have you back. I was already wondering where you were. Good that your son is fine again.

It's a nice rock, and I am curious to see where you take this. It will need something to show its size. My idea would be around 1-2 meters, am I right?

You're right about the size. It is 1.2 meters height.
The idea is to get the right parameters then create as many rock as needed (of different sizes)
keeping or adjusting values for lichens or reflectivity.

The image shows you the nearest beach from  my house (about 150 meters).

Wow, that's some beach! We definitely need to come over one day  ;) This would be a great spot to make in TG. Is your rock a displacable cube or a fake stone? Both could work well, I guess.

You're welcome anytime  ;)

Displacable object here.

Starting this idea of the beach

Small rocks for beach with lichens
Bigger rocks for cliff around the beach.
Try of vegs

Very good David. Looking forward to the evolution of your composition.

If you want to make that secluded beach surrounded by rock, why not paint the rocky area (horseshoe-like) and raise it? Or will you be adding a number of the displacable cubes to form that half-ring?

The idea is to study the displacable objects.
So the rocky area (horseshoe-like indeed) will be made with objects.
Not sur of the result, but at least i should learn from the try.

Good work. your rock texture and coloring are very natural. I can see many variations for this setting, including a forested composition.

Great start to a fun project David. Good to hear your son made a rebound to health. You do know/recall that some time back Walli gave us a lichen model right? It is I believe in File Sharing. Save some time texturing if you pop  one or 3 of the lichens and use the Colour Tab in the pops to vary the colours to lichen from your area's tones.

"We definitely need to come over one day"....when I read this type of comment I am always envious of Europeans of their closeness to each other. I can't even imagine how convenient it would be to live in Holland and have friends mere hours away in a totally different country. It takes 2 hours+ just to get out of Manitoba (the province I live in) and then it's only High and Mighty Ontario residents, or Saskatchewan farmers who are identical to Manitoba farmers except for their crops. Boring.....And should I go south I'd be turned back at our friendly neighbours border for a fine for pot I got in 1971....sigh. Sorry for the semi hi jack...as you were.
