Title: terraskyrim?
Post by: Cocateho on April 01, 2015, 01:04:15 PM
This was an attempt to capture the feel of the lush woodlands in the game Skyrim, particularly after heavy modding. Thanks for taking a look!

Nice attempt. Two ideas . Some variation in grass colour and the flower in foreground could move a bit on left or right to avoid to br center.

I actually already see variation in the grass color. Is it just me? I think this looks very "video game-like", which was your intention, so well done. :) The glow is nice. Post processing I assume?

Yes, I like that glow also, very subtle. What trees are they? XFrog? Walli's?

Should be some boulders around as well. It's not easy escaping the dark grey rocks.

Must try creating some Skyrim DEMs  ;)  Practising my point cloud classification workflow in Photoscan.

@ Oshyan - Thank you! There is variation, two grasses from xfrog and one population of the built in grass clump as well as fractal variation in the color. And yes, added soft glow and a little directional lighting using Gimp.

@ Dune - Almost everything is xfrog, The maple on the left is dandelO's but I'm pretty positive that's the only non-xfrog plant in there.

I originally had a couple large fake stones but when playing with the perspective they got lost somewhere off screen. Good point though, they are ubiquitous in the game, and often a pain in the @$$ when they are just a little too high to jump over haha.

A little update, changed the foreground to look a bit more natural, to me anyway.

Very nice! Good-looking grass and flowers also.

I like the addition of another flowering plant and it looks as if you've adjusted the sizes of the grasses which helps a lot...good one.

Very nice view! Perhaps I would have used different flowers but for a Skyrim-like look they are perfect!
