Got my puter back up and running after a melt down, sheesh! Anyways, here's a start to a new series of canyon images, lottsa work to be done still but I think it will end up decent.
Nice vertical walls here and color. The strata could use some variation. I think FrankB had put up a clip file on this somewhere in 'File Sharing'. You might want to search that.
Good start, also you can control where the strata appears by masking with Simple Shape shaders and a Distribution shader, also the Painted shader for more artistic/less regular, done from the top view....and if you have good colour sense and aren't colour blind like moi, the Power Fractal shader is your best paint brush for both colour and additional displacements.
Not real for sure how to do that Bobby...Guess I'll do some fiddlin around. Thanks for the tips.

On the bottom of the Strata shader is a mask box, click the
+ sign>Add>Create new shader>Colour shader>Distribution shader is how to get there, and it's self explanatory once you're there. You can select height values by right clicking in the preview display and
Copy altitude and paste into the Distribution shader, etc. Hope this helped some.

Post the .tgd here and any number of us can fiddle it and repost examples for you. That's I found a handy way to learn this program.
