Anyone good at LW? I am trying to get a flat 'sheet' of planks (like roofing tiles) to conform to a ball shaped as a ship's hull. Tried ClothFX, but that is not working very well. Does anyone have a nice method for that? I am not on a LW forum, hence my question here...
This is one way that comes to my mind Ulco:

This uses the clothfx way but might be still usefull maybe:

You might use instancing too.
If you don't have one of the newer Lightwave versions with native instancing there is the free DP_Instance plugin you can use too.

Here are many more clone plugins:

Edit: This is another different method. The part that might be useful is especially near the 14 minute mark Ulco.

Thanks a lot, Kadri. Gonna check those out. The reason I wanted it done this way is that I can easily texture a flat plane and bend afterwards, as you may well have figured.
You could use bones too by the way.
The guys on the Lightwave forum are very helpful.Don't hesitate to ask there if you need to Ulco.
I haven't dared to try rigging/bones yet, Kadri. I may have to one day. Thanks again, learned some stuff this morning, then had to go to the dentist (no link between events).
