I think this works out ok for what I'm after.

Isn't this the same setup as in another thread? It's better if you post a sequence in one thread, so we can more easily follow your progression.

But you're getting there with the setup anyway. Trees are very much better. I would mask the strata shader by a PF, so it's a bit less regular. Also, the shoreline can have a darker color and some shine (color adjust and reflective, no RT, with min and max height). Then some more shrub, grasses maybe....

Sorry late nights for me, so email me on the other stuff cuz your referencs don't comprehend, like PF, RT etc, am learning the software so I'm not to sure LOL!!!

PF is power fractal, RT = Ray Traced (in water shader by default, in reflective shader by choice, in default shader absent). RT reflects objects, but is heavier on render time. Better remove the email, as you'll get swamped in spam  ;)

I like what you have so far.
The water might be silted or muddy in such a place. In the Water shader sub-surface, adjusting the Volume 1 density value up and setting the Volume 1 color can add however much silt you like.

Agree with Dune and fleetwood's  assessments, notably breaking up the strata some.

Ok, Soo I'm up and about now. Sooo.. I should add a PF to my terrain to break up the strata, not actually add that to a texture of the terrain, but to the terrain itself?

You could use a power fractal as a mask input to the strata shader, just making the strata less obvious in some places, keeping them in others.

The Mask function is fight up there with the Transform shader for essential tools.

Sooo, here's a new render, tried out a few of the suggestions, its coming along methinks. I still have a few more tweaks I want to do before I call it finished. Thx for all the help. I'm still learning and loving this app:-)

Gets better and better!

What if you set the camera to a little lower point? I can only guess but I think then you get more reflection on the water without changing the water settings.

Wouldn't it be helpful for many new users (I'm not too proud to count myself to the sometimes helpless) to open a threat in User-contributed Tutorials collecting and explaining all the short forms?

I really like the look of the surface through the water, thats the part I like best. Its a good image over all though. I would think that some fack stones and dust added would help too.

Yup...fake stones are your friend to relieve the monotony of normal ground colours. I think I've added them to every outdoor image I've made.
