World machine Terrain - much abused in TG!
Very nice render! I like it a lot.
Great terrain!! But there's something about the snow. It looks a bit like semolina pudding poured over the mountains. I think there's too much displacement.
Super terrain, tweak the surfaces a bit as Hannes suggests and this could be even better!
Great work,
Cheers
Jason
:)
You were right Hannes. I've some more work to do and I'll post a new version.
Great terrain and POV...gotta come to grips with WM, though it's for me limited as I only have the free basic and cant use Geoglyph...sigh....
You can still do great things with it!
Holy cow!! Bang! right in the head :o Agree it needs some more work though, but this is not a usual scene.
Next stage - There's magic in this somewhere but I haven't found it yet >:(
Wow!Yes this does have great potential.
Well, and I don't think I noticed it last post. but excellent turbulent water waaaay down there. Like the snow as well...flow maps I'm guessing.
Thanks - yes fluvial flow map from WM.
Looks way better now. But there's something about the scale. Everything looks like you could touch the mountains with your hands. I hope you don't mind me saying that. Maybe if you lower the camera a bit and add some more haze or cloud layers to make the distant mountain range look further away.
I too am not happy with the POV maybe the magic can be found in changing that. I also have been playing with clouds but haven't found anything yet. I think I shall have to do drastic things.
Just a quick low res version of a new Pov

Yup right track there. The turbulent water will be even better from here...
Thanks.
Maybe a different direction than you were intending but if you put in trees at a small scale so this was a zoomed out view of a forested valley with massive peaks behind it I think it'd make for a pretty cool scene.
I prefered the previous version, which is really cool. The top half was near perfect, the bottom needed some darker diverse patches of grass, some shrub and a copse of trees.
The trees and grass are on the to do list anyway. I might do two versions as the foreground in the second one needs work.
Getting really cool! I could have this as a big nice poster in my room :D
This is much better!! The camera could be even more moved down to my taste.
The white stuff on the water looks a bit rough.
Well this has been an interesting journey and it ain't over yet. I've never had an image fight me quite so hard!
I've learn't a lot about integrating World machine and Terragen, and come up with a lot of things I want to explore. I'm going to stop here (for the moment)to explore some of those ideas.
I need to improve the vegetation and explore some ideas about creating ice falls, the rock textures could be improved still and there are things I need to do with the water to add variety to the foam and add a greater sense of waterfalls.
All good fun!
Well I saved that one. Nice conclusion for now.
Really cool render!
Cheers Guys - I've managed to improve the ice and snow since posting this - next render!

I
still like it so you haven't gone over the tweak limit, heh heh heh. Great ice and I thought the veggies looked fresher...
Those are some very nice clouds(in the sky) by the way. Deserved a new comment.
I like the progress.
The only thing that i am not sure is the scale. The mountains on the back do look like they should be much bigger...
Thanks all. They are 12 to 1400m ! Just very rugged ;)
:)
NICE! 8)
