Title: Ocean Sphere Clipping
Post by: WAS on July 15, 2015, 01:05:29 PM
Is there a way to prevent clipping when using a sphere for a ocean? Even at high altitudes the clipping gets noticeable. Especially when adding beaches with light colors.

I'd have thought that would disappear with higher quality settings in the Render tab.

It happens with the Lake object too. I don't think there's any difference between the Lake and a Sphere in this regard.

It looks much better at higher detail, especially if you also increase the Ray detail multiplier in the Render subdiv settings. There doesn't seem to be a way to get rid of it completely, but it's not bad.

Here's what I was able to render with Detail 1 and Ray detail multiplier 0.5.

...but I probably need to change how it's tracing rays at close distances like this so it looks better at lower detail.

Does look a lot better. Makes sense. Alright I was just afraid, as I send off to render farms or my friend which takes up a lot of time and not really wanting to send a bugged file to be rendered.
