ok so i just downloaded the Terragen 2 Technology Preview. and even though i have the demo version for terragen(1), i'm like  ??? ??? ??? so how do i generate the terrain exactly?

Try looking at the documentation and basic tutorials on this site.  You can use the Terragen 2 Documentation, and there is also a tutorial about migrating from TG 0.9 in the user created tutorials section.

Yea is can be a technical process depending on how you want the terrain to look.

Download this and save it to your hard-drive.  Go through it a few times.  It's one of the best tutorials for a beginner - http://www.planetside.co.uk/terragen/tg2/tg2tp_overview.pdf and I look at it from time to time to just understand the scope of what can be done in TG2.

Simplest way to get started is to add a "Power Fractal" or "Alpine Fractal" from the terrain tab. The default "Hightfield Load" and "Heightfield Generate" need either a pre-existing elevation map or a generated fractal map to work. If you not using either of these then you can safely delete them.
