WIP, definitely going for photo real on this one. Pretty happy with the over all colors, especially the trees. The path kinda got lost, and the ground cover could use some more tweaking and variety to really look "real". C&C welcome.
It's very nice overall. I like the variety of vegetation.
As far as critiques, you might want to make the lighting a bit more dark in the trees. To me it looks like a bit too much light is penetrating the leaves. Some fine bark displacement along the branches and twigs. Other then that it's very good. Looking forward to more updates on this one.
tweaked clouds, added flowers along the edge or the path and upped the displacement on the tree bark. Making some further adjustments/additions now to the path and tree bark.
I really dig the colors and the overall feel of the image. What jumps out at me is the need to blend the edges of the path and the brush together a bit more so it's not such a sharp divide between the two.
Also, can you tell me what vegetation you used for this? It's perfect..
Thanks! It's mostly all xfrog stuff, the thick grass clumps are Mr Lamppost's, the golden reeds for as much as I use them I honestly can't remember where I got them. I want to think dandelO or Walli, and the grass in the middle of the path is Walli's... but everything else is xfrog as far as I can remember. Trees are red maple, tulip poplar, European hackberry and beech, and Oregon ash.
Thanks for the info, really great work. Those are the kinds of pics that I want to make. I'll get there.
Low quality render with some updates. Kinda hard to see but I tweaked the displacement on some trees, also made some additions to the pathway.
Full sized. Still not quite getting it... any suggestions on increasing the "realism"?
Maybe the flowers on the right are in too much of a straight row? Love the image....the trees are super.
I do agree with Lady. The 3 plants on the right of the foreground seem too much on the road.
Otherwise it is great.

Fixed a couple things, made an addition or two... ;) this was my first time using a vehicle so that was a bit of a learning curve. I think it adds something but I'm not quite sure if I like it more with or with out. Thoughts? This isn't the full size, just a large test to make sure the details worked out the way I wanted.
Scale looks pretty good...do I see a driver?...nice glass reflection....I think it adds myself, all man made is a good contrast.
I like it very much!
A little bit (but very small little bit) I am missing a shrubbery level in the forest... But that is not absolutely necessary.
I'll call this a final... for now. I feel I may come back to this though. Thank you all for your kind words, hope you enjoy the full size version too! This one is a bit compressed so if it looks a bit lower quality than it should that's probably why.
Good work! I like it.
I'm not a big fan of the car. But I must say that the final image is great.
And you made great improvments from the beginning.
David
I like it too. Would be nice to have higher quality tree models though.
Car needs a driver, or an open door on the driver's side...no reason for it to be there otherwise...other than that I like it....
Thanks guys! I do wish I had higher quality trees, but everything is free samples so I can't complain too much.
And Bobby - maybe nature was calling...
I wish I had a person to add in, but I havent found a good model yet :-\

That's why I suggested opening the driver side door, hee hee hee...DAZ is I think free and does come with some basic models...a bit of a learning curve getting posing down but there are lots of free poses and character stuff available through renderosity.com's freestuff...I know cuz I Moderated there for 5 years and towards the end of my time DAZ had overtaken Poser in free uploads. Likely a bunch at DAZ itself tho I haven't looked in a long while.
Decided to take another stab at this with some proper color variation :P, also have soft shadows turned on this time.
I like this much better, back to the original with tweaks...the car seemed of of place.
Good work - I like it.
Nice!!
It has a great muddy look! I like this very much!
(though I don't have the wish to walk there ;D )
I remember the car now... funny that the same car didn't work on my street too :D
It was that Lincoln Navigator, right?
That looks really good. It's a bit too sharp to my taste, and maybe you can make the shading of the tree trunk a little softer. I'm not sure, but as far as I remember unchecking smooth normals can help (although that might sound illogically)?
Great improvement in direct comparison from the first version to the last.
I don´t miss th car either.
The one thing that could add to the realism in my opinion is the clouds. They are ok, but they don´t match the quality you achieved in that last version.
Best Regards,
J
Thank you all for the kind comments, It's really nice when a scene starts to "click" together.
DocCharly - yeah that's the navigator, just could never get it to look right, makes me feel a bit better that I'm not the only one that couldn't get it to quite "fit" haha
Hannes - I may just do away or move that tree altogether and put something a bit higher quality there since it draws so much attention, I don't particularly like it all that much it just kinda happened to be the tree that ended up right up front, but it may be best to cut that one out... anyone want firewood? ;)
Mahnmut - actually had the same though as it was rendering about half way through. Always something to tweak haha.
Thumbs up!
