There are about 20 populations in the scene.............
Love it! nice mood and colour.
Great scene set up, what's he upto?
Could involve one of the sheep. :o
;D
Thought it was a catapult in his hand!
Nice scene!
Hey - great image!
Looks nice.
Cool!!!
Here comes my favourite question: is there any additional lightsource in the scene? If so, you could try to make the scene brighter by slightly increasing the strength of the environment light instead of using another lightsource(s). To me it looks a bit flat. (It seems I don't really like additional suns or something like that! ;))
And: if it's unchecked use GISD with an occlusion weight of at least 1.
I actually had it brighter.............didn't look right to me (not with the cloud cover). Let me play some more with the lighting. ;D
No, I didn't mean, that the scene should be brighter. Not at all! But at least to me the shadows look equally bright and a bit flat, and I had the impression that there is a second lightsource (maybe with shadows disdabled) in the scene, which is something that's quite common here, but I think it always looks way more unnatural than adjusting the "natural" factors, like the (one!) sun and environment light plus the GISD settings.
OK..............glad you replied so quickly. I was going to start on it today sometime. I think I need to turn up the occlusion............the cloud cover is acting as a diffuser and giving me soft shadows. ???
Actually I really like the lighting. Additionally to some higher occlusion weight you could turn on "soft shadows" with a value of 1 maybe to make the shadows' edges less sharp.
And another suggestion: There could be some more variation in the grass patches' distribution. A bit more randomness.
And is there any additional lightsource in the scene? ;)
There is just the standard lighting set-up. I hardly ever use the 2 suns............... ;D
OK, now I feel reassured! ;)
May have gone too far with the occlusion................
Hmmm, there's something about the lighting. You said you increased the occlusion weight. That's noticeable. But for some reason the shadows still look unnaturally bright. It seems you checked "soft shadows", didn't you? That's better, but the soft lighting cast by some overcast sky doesn't really fit to the shadows that are quite sharp near the shadow emitter.
If you wouldn't have written, that there is no additional lightsource I would have bet there is one. Strange...
