Title: Name that tune
Post by: yossam on September 05, 2015, 12:19:20 AM
I heard a song today that I haven't heard in years. To mess with your heads, you're gonna have to guess what it is from clues I give you. The first is below. Bonus points for the band's name, double for the lead singers' name, and I'll give you my first born if you know his wifes' (at the time) name.

Have fun............. ;D

Nope..............this should be easier for the older farts on the forum. Just because of how old it is.  ::)

You already said the year, so I know this is wrong, but the render made me think of  The Monster Mash by Bobby "Boris" Pickett because of the line "I was working in the Lab, late one night" -

The Monster Mash!!! Hah, I remember that  ;D ;D ;D Way earlier, but a nice idea!

1987. Hmmm. I'm indeed an old fart, but it seems I'm even too old for that. No idea...

Alright folks................think of the uses for lab equipment . This is not that hard, but I'm the one that thought of it.  :P     Good guess fleetwood.............you are an official member of the OLD farts club.  ;D

Did they have Meth in the 80's? I wouldn't have guessed that crack required a PHD. /sarc

This post will give you the name of the band and the name of the song..............if you think real hard.  ;D

So White Snake then?  ;D If so, I still have NO idea what the song is. By the way, I was little more than a pup in 1987. And back then, I thought Iron Maiden was rad... And I was right :D

Still of the night?...

Ba ha ha ha HA! Nope, never would have thought of it.  ;D ;D Good one man!

Also, that snake looks pretty freaking great. In fact I was going ask if something else is going on here. I don't recall seeing glass and surfacing on the snake so very crisp on many imported objects. Any trickery here?

Not really..............played with GISD a lot that's all. The "glass" objects have an inside and outside layer. That's two shaders per object, at least. Some have four.  Wasn't real happy about the coils in the distillers.............they also have glass shaders, but came up black for some reason, being inside a glass object I guess. Render time wasn't too bad considering all the glass and chrome. I like the first render better as far as reflections.............I adjusted the GISD down in the second pic.  ;D

Indeed, a very fine render, Richard!

I had to go back and fix some things that were wrong............it probably wasn't noticeable, but I knew they were wrong. While tinkering, I messed with the liquid shaders............too much? The render below is low res just to show the difference.............yays or nays?

As for the glass going black thing you might find an explanation here

Love this wouldn't have guessed the tune either, was thinking 'smoke on the water' Black Sabbath Deep Purple - edit, colour blindness!!! :)

Metal, but not whitesnake!

If the brickwork was less fuzzy and had some bump, it would be perfect...

Fun one, thanks for the entertainment! And Monster Mash is one of my faves, but never seen that video - when music was still fun...
