Title: Importing Lightwave Object Into Terragen
Post by: rcallicotte on September 18, 2015, 11:47:58 AM
It's been a while since I've tried anything like this, but am I correct to assume I could take a terrain generated like https://vimeo.com/125467380 (https://vimeo.com/125467380) in Lightwave to Terragen and add color, etc.? I am guessing, too, that I wouldn't be able to use Terragen colors or displacements on it. Does this sound feasible?

I think both assumptions can be positively answered. You can import terrain (as obj I guess is better), but you won't have real displacement. Can't you make a vector displacement map out of that sculpt? Or just a 16bit greyscale map? Then you can displace real TG ground.

After I asked this question, I saw something that made me think YES. Thanks. I'll plan on doing it as 16-bit greyscale map, like in WorldMachine.

Thanks!
