Title: Questions; Detailed Mask from Terrain & Fractalize Functions
Post by: WAS on November 02, 2015, 04:07:58 AM
Sorry for the topic title being so drawn out, we don't have descriptions and I'm trying to keep my topics as derived from the discussion as possible for the search feature.

I'm trying to make a lava crust like surface with cracks and lava revealed below similar to glen5700's Pahoehoe Lava (http://www.planetside.co.uk/forums/index.php/topic,10566.msg108662.html#msg108662).

First question: I swear I've used the Fractal Warp Shader on functions before, but for some reason I am was not able to get it to do anything all the way down the node chain.

The second question: I would like to obtain a lava mask from the crust displacement. Namely, fill the voids with some lava. I used the functions output to create a mask via the colour adjust shader, but the result (while in preview looks solid) is almost similar to the Sin Scalar function.

I've attached a test file.

Try this: get rid of both compute terrains and use a get position in texture. Put fractal warp between surface layer 02 and 01.

Well now that seems to have done it. How gorgeous. :)
