Just tripping out and trying stuff...C&C welcome...it can always improve.

It's a funny image, but a bit dull and subdued in colours. What happened to the sun, too many cloud cover? What if you make a really dark cloud in the distance, but bright sun right in front. Almost spotlight like, maybe?
I like the scene. Gives me a bit the feeling of looking at a children's book.
As alternative to Ulcos suggestion I have another idea: What if you put some creepy fog over some parts of the ground?
This is one of the pictures, I could imagine as a series of images in different situations like spring, summer, fall, winter, sunshine, rain, fog, snow...

Was working towards that Ulco. I'm using Richard's hole in the cloud technique to try and light up 'spotlite like' with the sun, the U turn. May try again as I saw some results that say it's almost working.....but having said that I really like the gloomy over cast mood...kinda like the last few weeks of the
'new climate' we've got since they
'broke' the weather...needs more contrast on the lovely Walli grass I'm using as it lacks definition and becomes blurred clumps.
Or just activate soft shadows increased to something like 50-60 thus
emphasizing the gloomy look.

hadn't considered that..consider it considered...thanks
Well I'd neglected a setting in the hole setup and once fixed, and a minor tweak of the clouds(changed from perlin to perlin ridged), I came with the spotlite Sun and moody sky I was aiming at...thanks for the push...tried the 50 ss samples but just made it over bright and loooong rendertime.
With a little post you can dramatize this even better, Bobby!

Been thinking about that Ulco, but I hate the grass so may have to redo it...you're referring to sharpening the cloud shadows that look sorta like rain correct? and an over all levels tweak. I think I may try one of those Dead Grass models I got from a RDNA Halloween give away a few years back.
Great stuff - who would build a road like that!

uh, me?...hee hee hee..once around the Willow tree and you're home free. Actually it started as a river project which aborted itself due to scale and became a road by default of no other inspiration at that time
He didn't mean Soft Shadow *Samples* at 50, but Soft Shadow *Diameter* at 50, which would make *very* soft shadows. It's quite an extreme setting though, and will probably take lots more samples too in order to get a low-noise result. So I would not really recommend it.

Roads like that are the reason I hate taxes, and distrust hippies.
;D :P
:-*
Still, though, as a render, I do like it. Maybe there is a dirty hippie inside all of us?

Eventually I got that, heh heh, and tried both ways; but my current method is pleasing me and if I can manage grass I like a bit of post will make it sparkle for me. Thanks man.

You are good stuff, Bobby!
*Awwww, you edited for the worse! You are bad stuff bobby!

Must be my November mood, but I like the dark one. Replace that truck with Lamborghini and you're approaching Bla Bla 2 territory.

which one, I have 3, hee hee hee...and thanks...being a Scorpio it really does appeal to me and in fact is my desktop for the month. But I can't resist drama and the new approach is working for me now as well.
