WIP. First landscape using Daniil's erosion shader from scratch. The background the next job and I have some ideas for the snow.
Terrific POV and very nice start. Problem with your (and my) way of making these rocks is probably that a small patch size in normal or terrain computing inhibits the possibility of smooth snow. Perhaps merging with a second smoother terrain for snow only could work. Here you probably used the depo map, not displacement intersection?
Actually, snow gets rougher the older it gets! but yes it can be a problem if you want smooth snow and your suggestion of using a second terrain is worth trying. I used the depo map for the snow as an experiment and I'm thinking of adding intersection too! Since I posted this I've added some ice using the flowmap A. First though, I'm working on the background which is easier for my old head then I'll look at smoothing to see if I can make it work and like the result!.
following this...Love the POV...gotta try that sometime
Awaiting the mac version..tapping foot LOL!
What do you have in mind for the background?
It seems ripe for a nice pine forest and grassy fields in between. I would use a 1 to 3 octave on the flow maps for some rivers winding though the background coming off of the mountains you have. The clouds look nice but could use some brighter highlights.
Other then that, a very good start.
Really cool POV. Curious where this goes.
Thanks all.
Nice! Good sense of large-scaled mountains.
Thanks and thank you for your excellent plugin. Erosion plugins often gives lots of spikes some way of controlling them would be nice.
The Final version....
Nice feeling of depth and scale on this image. Great use of erosion and snow, giving a really rugged and harsh environment. Great work.
This is very realistic with great rock shader achievement.
David.
Very good! Impressive view!
Love it but my vertigo, my goodness...nice addition of the square tower(s)
Superb fantasy render. That lake should have some ice floes but man I love the rocks and the snow!
Thanks all - your kind comments are appreciated.
