Title: Backwards compatable?
Post by: chadkruger on August 19, 2007, 10:48:06 PM
The new version of Terragen 2 will be backwards compatable with everything we've worked on so far, right?

Should be, unless planetside is doing some MAJOR reworking.

Yes, it will be, although there may be some differences in certain renders due to changes in Compute Terrain. Most everything else should be the same or very close.

Backwards compatibility is cool but please Planetside don't let this hinder you from improving the app or fixing bugs because another app (will remain nameless now) kept backwards compatibility in favour over fixing some major problems and deficiencies.

Would that other app be Windows ;)?  I wouldn't worry if I were you - with the loose XML format that .tgd files are saved in, it should be easy to provide backwards compatability with new updates.
