A new challenge (WIP) in low resolution.
Looks great to me, except maybe the river edges are a bit to perfect.
In my eyes absolutely spectacular! :)
Though I agree about the river.
Hmmm... A WIP 'low resolution challenge' ... And is there more to this story? :)
Looks good. Something special must be growing in the square field hidden all around by trees.
I don't know Ulco, to be honest...is this a personal piece or work?
Quite a nice country side. The meandering river works fairly well. Soften the river edges a bit?
I need to find out how this particular river needs to look like; it's supposed to be the 'Berkel' around 1900. But rivers in our country aren't very spectacular at all, mind you. And the left part has been canalized, they wanted to have that shown.
What's your problem with it, Martin? just doubts is no use to me. I am always hoping for good crits to build upon. It's work, btw. So, any advice/crit is greatly appreciated :)
I could not find much. This is a modern image but there is the river.
Hey, cool, Chris, thanks. Didn't find that one. So you see, nothing spectacular.
I am not very happy about the flowers in my render, but in high resoution they will be softened anyway.
No problem. :)
It's a good image, as you say nothing spectacular but then it isn't meant to be, it's a commission that needs to be historically accurate. Some more trees along the river may help soften it. Maybe some yellower fields.
I hope I can help a bit, too:

Yeah yeah, no worries :)
I was curious to know if it's personal work or professional.
It's clear by now from your replies in the meantime that it is professional work and that aspects of the work are guidelines from the client.
So there's little room there for advice/critics, just something we all need to 'swallow' :)
Quotejust something we all need to 'swallow'
It's not that bad, is it? ???
And thanks, Nils. I've got a pretty good impression now.
QuoteSo you see, nothing spectacular.
Only because you are used to it, and "the grass is always greener on the other side". To me that river looks really nice and inviting. Rapids and waterfalls and fast water terrify me now that I have kids. Everything is invented to cause a nightmare when you have little kids. But I would take them to your river. ;D
My only complaint so far is the sections seem flat, not real. They feel to me like just a bunch of boxes. But I am sure you will do something with that anyway. So I guess I don't really have a complaint.
....
Oh, one complaint I guess. Something in general. I am probably totally wrong, but, I thought your country was usually cloudy and dreary, like what people say about the UK. But your images are usually sunshiny and warm. I am Curious what the reality is.
Probably not to helpful.
It's awfully flat out here (nothing that kids could fall from ;)), so there's not much I can do about that. I prefer a bit of structure, but I can't really do that to the client. And they'd probably don't want a dreary render either, bad for tourism :P
It is a really good work as always. Personally I would perhaps add some more subtle color variations (dryness) for the tree leaves and some other tree species inside the woods to break the "uniformity".
David
Thanks David, good idea. I will have to alter the canopy anyway to make some paths visible. It's too 'wild' now to show them (client's wish). I will also add more diversity in the grassy fields.
Update, not all things changed yet, but progress.
