Title: Icy fun
Post by: Kevin F on November 30, 2015, 05:09:29 PM
Here's a fun render: sort of an arctic wildlife scene.
Made a hole in the ice (thanks Dune for the idea), and thought it suited a seal.

Seal/sea lion - sorry had it for years & lost the details. If it's yours please let me know and I'll credit.

It's very funny. What are you using for your snow? There is a way to make it more believable with a default shader (some translucency, illumination, sparkle by small fractal and distance shader, and bluish colors).

Thanks.

It's the icy watershader tweaked to look more frosty.

Oh! I know, I've been posting snow scenes here since day 1!

I'm not a big fan of sparkly snow, but what I (might!) have found is a way to make the snow/ice in this image to look really glassy white and slippery. I'll post an example image later.

edit: proving difficult to reproduce. Seems to be very dependent on exactly where the sun is in relation to shadows etc.mmmm.

Thanks for the comments.
