Title: Soften Valleys
Post by: AP on December 08, 2015, 02:25:06 AM
I looked all over and could not find any posts concerning a way to soften the lower slopes using a function to do this for a Power fractal. I have a Soft minimum scalar but how to connect it to effect the lower altitudes of the Power fractal.

You could try (exepriment with)  the setup I posted in my thread about minmax. There's another one around (very old), but that doesn't give a soft flow, but a hard edge.
If you use the displacement in the PF, there's a checkpoint there to reduce lower areas' displacement, but I hardly ever use that.

I just figured it out using the Soft maximum scalar but i'll look into the minmax also. I had the numbers wrong in the Constant scalars so no changes were visible.

If you use both you can some sort of smooth step from a PF, but indeed you have to play the values. And I haven't a clue how it really works  ;)

Well, might as well try it all.
