Title: TG programs
Post by: Lady of the Lake on December 28, 2015, 11:20:33 AM
I just upgraded to Windows 10 and did not have any problems.....that I know of.  But when browsing the Control Panel under programs I found six TG3 ones listed.  Can I uninstall all but one of them?  Or do they build upon each other?  The last one I have is 3.3.04 back in Sept. 2015.  One of them is the one I bought (TG3 Creative).....so which one?  Sorry I am so dense about this stuff.  Need help please.  I am sure my poor ole computer would love the extra space if I can get rid of some of these.   ;D

With deleting an earlier version you might save up to 50Mb on your Hdd. It will do nothing for your computer.
If I would you I would buy an SSD drive coz that will put some new life into your old pc for sure. (btw if u running Win 10 it cannot be that old  :D)

All of the versions are technically usable.  It's just that TG installs a new iteration with every update.  You could uninstall all but the latest version without any problems.

Yes, only if you want to re-install a previous version, that is not possible (afaik), because it finds a newer version. But why would you? I had that once (needing to use an older version), and had to uninstall the newest (alpha) version, re-install an older version, and re-install the alpha again. But I choose (make) a different folder to install into, so I have several versions in parallel.

The multiple entries in Programs don't actually correspond to multiple installed versions. It's just that our installer does not do an uninstall before installing the latest version, but the files are generally overwritten, so the old uninstall isn't really pointing to the right things anymore. In some cases you can run the uninstaller just to get it out of your Programs list, but it's not going to save you any space or help your performance in any way.

Unless you install in different folders.
