Very cool addition. Although, like many such features, it has already been available (albeit perhaps not as high quality/detail) in World Wind (http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/) for some time. ;D

rather basic and the images are over all poor quality.....

Yea worldwind is really the way to go, recommended it back in the "My way to get stars" topic some time ago I think. COmes with Earth and most of the other planets and the Sloan sky survay.

I think you'll find Google comes with a rather high-detail earth  ::)

As for the planets, they are there but I think i get some sort of graphical glitch when I try to view them, and I never had a problem with the image resolution, especially considering the distance of some of the objects.
