I did not find any topic regarding this. But I didn't know what to search for either.
I'm rendering an image now and I se that Terragen renders the trees that are behind the mountains to. I have seen it render some part of the mountains that are behind other mountains before, and this do not really speed up the render times.
I'm guessing there is nothing I can do, so I just wanna know if this is a fix in the next release?
There is nothing you can do and this is not fixed in the next version, but it will be improved in the future.

So is its rendering just the trees or is it rendering the back face f the mountain then the front?
Back face culling is already fairly effective but occlusion culling is less well tuned at the moment so you'll often get populations or terrain that render and are later covered up by something closer to the camera. This is obviously wasted render time. This will be improved as much as possible for the final version although particulary complex or extreme displacement may still pose a problem for it. In general we should see some speedup from this optimization alone though.
