Title: Peaks
Post by: Dune on January 09, 2016, 02:24:57 AM
Start out with a smooth terrain, add spiky PF color only for displacements masked by a warped big ridgy PF, and use that mask to control color of the peaks.

Clever technique. Definitely a blueprint for a lot of additional types of terrains. There was a photograph i found on-line of some far north rugged and very steep mountainous area that reminds me of this. I have no idea where it is though. Some of the peaks in the Dolomite's come to mind to.

Another one. Never mind the ugly ridge on the left and the trees, I need to make better ones.

Here you go, Bobby. Have fun!

Wow! 5  leaves me speechless - almost  ;)

The foreground is unbelievable! On the mountain in the background I'm missing a bit variety.

This particularly reminds me of a place in Eastern Washington my father took me too when I was really young. With the overhanging rock ledges. was even a canyon like mountain with a stream below.

I masked the peaks out of that further mountain, but they're back in a whiffy.

Dolomites, could be.

I think you're also referring to the area of Cerro Torre:
