Mogn showed a way to do exactly this.

That is easy

???

Mogn (or someone else!!!!), please show me how to integrate this into let's say a cloud's density fractal to create some sort off rain. Is this possible?

I managed to do some rain by stretching the fractal vertically, but it might look better a little bit more diagonal.

Following this! Brilliant idea Hannes, I hope it's possible.

Well, Hannes, you don't need fancy methods for that. I used a simple transform shader (rotate X or Z) for that. Easy  ;)  You can even bend by altitude (redirect or vdisp I believe).
