I gave up on object leaves for ground clutter and have gone to image maps with small displacements blended with a fake stone network C&C welcome
That looks really great, Bobby! The bright grey areas in between look like melted (or molten?) ice.
Nice.
That tree looks awesome. It is a free model?

Thanks Hannes. They're worn down fake stones; I reduced their height and pancaked them to get them worn looking. I should have made them darker grey..maybe I'll raise them up in the next attempt, or just adjust the colour.
I like how you have done the leaves. Nice.

If you want I'll zip up the dry leaves colour and displace/bump maps and post em in File sharing...let me know.
Sure that would be great. Thanks.

heck they're small enough to post here
The leaves work quite well but definitely raise the stones some. Maybe a slightly darker grey for the stone color.

That's the plan, also have some higher resolution dry leaves if I can just locate them. Downloaded and not extracted I suspect....but they come with Alpha , Normal and I think Luminosity as well as Diffuse maps so should be great...if I can find em
I like your choice of colours, I would not mind some other stone-shading, though.
The background looks a bit like hugh piles of leaves. Is this intended?

Y got me there...the background received no attention as I was focusing on the fore ground...will also work on that..the stones will change.

I like this very much Bobby. And I see cobblestones under the leaves... funny how different eyes see the same scene. :)

that's pretty much what I wanted but the fakestones need work...all agree on that...
EDIT Jan 20 2016
as you can see I did act on the advice and I'm happy with it...was done as a forest floor test initially and turned into something more but I'm happy and finished. Thanks for all the fish on this one....
