great realism. What kind of birds are those?
Look like plovers.............. ::)

Thought they were a seashore bird?
Nice.
I would try a different POV too Ulco. Looks just a little unbalanced to me...
They're the wood pigeons I made, but they're too dark and not in their right environment. A structure test anyway. I was going for this kind of terrain, but got distracted.
Well done, the tree is very realistic ! Are the white spots on the bottom left bushes shadows area on purpose ?
David.
Nice work, boy, that tree gets around!
@Antoine: no there's something fishy going on. I thought they were light falling through the shrub, but it's in some stones as well. It's a bit of a complicated setup without a compute terrain, and I still have to find the culprit.
Update...
Cliffs look more convincing in the newest. One thing I notice in the photo is that almost every grouping of bushes/grass has its own slight mound where the roots hold on to and collect the sand.
It would be a nice addition to realism to duplicate those mounds and grass distribution.
Nice desert.
The shrubs in the second are cool.
Mick it's not always the same tree, they are many and ready to take over soon. ;)
;D
Salt flats.
last one is great... the structures are really nice!
:)
In the first one the first thing I saw was (ooooh I did an accidental palindrome) a one tooth face in the trunk of the tree...made me chuckle. Query: How do you populate without a Compute Terrain or is one added after the displacements?
When I throw out the compute completely the pops don't anchor well (not at all, actually, so you have to drag a new line), so I leave it sitting, but the output goes nowhere. But usually I anchor the pops to the last node before planet. With an added compute normal if I use rotation. It's really twice as fast without the compute, so well worth trying if you really need it.

Just in and off to bed but I'll check it out in the morning...thanks
Nice work love the plants in the second shot and the shaders and formation on the third one.Well done
just re checking my reminders and stopped to look at the first one again. very innovative how you have sand falling from the hoof...well done with also the foot prints in the sand. very real!
Bobby it's a photo. I fell for it too. ;)
;D I thought I made that clear in my wording; that's the idea I was striving for.

D'oh, and here was me complaining about other's reading comprehension, LOL
WOW! The camel rider and the salt flats are my favorites! Pure realism!
Yes, the camel driver is an awesome PHOTO
;D roflmao
Ulco, don't be surprised. Posted by you, so people have high expectations. LOL! 8)

I think they only copied Ulco's work on that photo ;D ;D ;D
;D Well, since you're so enthusiastic, I do have some more 'tests' ;) Not all perfect, though.
Great, Ulco!
The second and third (with the single rock formations) work best in my eyes.
"pillars_26feb16-v2-2" is excellent. The sheer rock is very realistic. Very much what can be seen in places like Utah and Arizona. Even the coloring is down well.
The last two ones are great. I like the rock structures.
Big fan of the 2 desert ones myself...with the cold here I lean to the extreme opposite...
The last four renders are outstanding !
The white banded sandstone is the hammer (ist der Hammer ;D)! The last one just takes my breath away. Epic.
