Here is some very interesting information about VR gear:

Haven't read all but StarVR looks great. Will be costly probably.
Yes, the 210° FOV sounds quite interesting!!
wow good to know data before buy! Thx.
Interesting.
The dawn of Caprica is upon us! You know what I mean if you watched the series. People absorbed with their headsets in VR worlds (http://21stcenturywire.com/2015/06/20/galacticas-immersive-3d-vr-holoband-is-coming/). A coming challenge for sure.

But the last statement in the article still gives the prize to Occulus Rift....
Anyone with a Samsung phone?
Check this out.

This is interesting. Looks like an attempt at standardization.

I supposedly was shipping last June at $199.00...guess it's worth looking into as that's a good price.
I read that some people are feeling a bit sick after using a VR goggle, depending of the quality of the gyroscope (or whatever drives the movement) and the image quality.
I can confirm this. After about five minutes (!!) wearing my VR goggle, I'm now feeling kind of dizzy. For one hour now... :( :( :(

Yes. You need 90fps or it can really get bad. Also, eye strain can cause prolonged vision issues. The best I get is 60fps. it also matters how the environment is done. In general, I found that really dark scenes can help to mitigate the effect a bit. In the end I have to get a new GPU or a whole new machine, so will most.
The good news is that you can build for VR, without having to be in VR much. SO if you have a older less powerful GPU as I do, once you understand how it works and what will make people sick, you can build and view in more traditional ways as you have been.
IT helps to hold your head real steady and turn your head real slow. also, closing your eyes or squinting can reduce the negative effects.
Just know that at 90 fps that it does not make you feel the way it did, if it was built right.
What system are you using Hannes?
More about gaming but still related:

As I wrote somewhere, I am using the advanced Google Cardboard solution, which means plastic goggles with glass lenses and a Samsung S3 mini, which works, but the size and resolution of the phone is way too small/low, but at least you get an impression of VR.
The nausea I was talking about can also be caused by the fact that I wear varyfocal glasses. I can wear them together with the goggle, but the area I can see close things is only in the small lower part of the glasses, so I don't wear them when I put my goggles on. My right eye can focus close things without my glasses, but my left eye can't, so I guess this is another reason for headaches and dizziness.
Very informative link, Kadri. Thanks!

I remember a friend saying after he had watched Avatar in 3d:
"Imagine how cool it would be if the real world was 3d!"
